On 28th October a colour workshop was held at Grafham Village Hall, where we were delighted to have the artist Catherine Staveley show us how to use colour in our watercolour paintings. Catherine is a member of the well respected Northampton Town & County Art Society (set up in 1913).
Catherine started us off with a talk on what colour, tone etc was and gave a brief demonstration to show us how she achieves the painting of still life via the use of mainly primary colours (in preference to secondary or more complex colours). We then proceeded to paint our own still life subjects using the taught techniques. Catherine went individually to each person to help out and as a result some surprisingly realistic results were obtained in a very short space of time.

On Friday 31st October a new gallery in The Commemoration Hall in Huntingdon was opened up by the Mayor of Huntingdon. Grafham and Ellington Art Group now show quite a few paintings in this gallery. If anyone happens to be passing please have a look in and also mention the gallery location to friends and relatives. (The Commemoration Hall is located in the High Street near 'Costa Coffee' and 'Boots'.)
